Product Information
2-Acetyl-4-methylphenyl benzoate is a sensitizing agent that is used in the production of polymers. It can be used to crosslink polymers and coatings, stabilize fibers and fabrics, and as a monomer in the production of polyesters. 2-Acetyl-4-methylphenyl benzoate can be made by reacting benzaldehyde with acetyl chloride. It reacts with an epoxide group on a polymer to form a covalent bond. This reaction will occur between two unsaturated groups on the same polymer molecule or between two different polymer molecules. The esterification reaction occurs by heating the reactants to around 100°C for about an hour.
