Product Information
1,5-Dihydro-3,4-dimethyl-2H-pyrrol-2-one is a peroxide with a formyl group that can be used to produce polypyrrole. It has been shown experimentally to have an oxidation potential of about 1.6 V and has been electrochemically oxidized at the electrode surface. The x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis indicates that the molecule is composed of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen atoms in a ratio of 4:1:1 respectively. The uptake of oxygen by 1,5-dihydro-3,4-dimethylpyrrol 2 one during electrochemical oxidation was measured and the chemical composition was determined by x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis.
