Product Information
- Fumaraldehyde mono(dimethyl acetal)
- (2E)-4,4-dimethoxybut-2-enal
Fumaraldehyde mono(dimethyl acetal) is a marine sponge-derived heterocycle that is structurally related to pyridinium. It has been shown to have potent cytotoxicity in various cancer cell lines and potent apoptotic signaling activity. Fumaraldehyde Mono(dimethyl acetal) also inhibits the uptake of cholesterol by cells, which may be due to its inhibition of atp-dependent transport. The geometric isomers of Fumaraldehyde Mono(dimethyl acetal) are present in nature, with the cis form being the most abundant. The cis form was found to be more toxic than the trans isomer, suggesting that this structure plays an important role in its cytotoxicity.
