1-Chloro-3-ethoxypropan-2-ol is an ether that is used as a solvent for epichlorohydrin, ethyl nitroacetate and nitroacetic acid. It also reacts with alkali to form diethyl ether and with acids to form diethyl ethers. 1-Chloro-3-ethoxypropan-2-ol has been shown to react with conjugated olefins in the presence of a base in order to form diethyl ethers.
