O-Phospho-L-homoserine lithium salt (OPHL) is a homoserine analog that is used as an experimental model for the study of transsulfuration. It is also used to determine the optimum pH for growth and biochemical properties in tissue culture experiments. OPHHL has been shown to be a substrate for the enzyme threonine synthase and methionine synthase, both of which are involved in the biosynthesis of amino acids. OPHHL has also been shown to have a high affinity for hydrogen bonds, making it useful as a plasma mass spectrometry standard.
