Product Information

Name:
2-(tert-Butyl)benzofuran
Description:

2-(tert-Butyl)benzofuran is a chemical compound that has an electron-donating group and a hydrogen atom. It forms the benzene ring by reacting with an electron donor such as sodium chloride, and forms the alkylating agent by reacting with an alkyl halide such as chloroethane. The reaction of 2-(tert-Butyl)benzofuran with zinc chloride produces benzofurans. This reaction can be catalyzed by light or heat, and the yields are determined by the concentration of the reactants and the temperature. 2-(tert-Butyl)benzofuran reacts with potassium peroxide to form benzoic acid and 2,5-di tert-butylhydroperoxide. This reaction is called oxidation because it involves oxygen atoms in addition to hydrogen atoms.
