4-Amino-1H-1,2,3-triazole-5-carboxamide is a medicinal agent that is effective in treating acute phases of infections. This drug has been shown to be efficacious in the treatment of experimental oral exposure to Candida albicans. 4-Amino-1H-1,2,3-triazole-5-carboxamide has an X-ray crystal structure that is similar to benznidazole. It inhibits the growth of Candida albicans by altering the permeability and function of the cell wall. The compound also inhibits cyclohexanone synthesis by competitive inhibition of the enzyme cytochrome P450.
