6-Methoxyquinoline-4-carboxaldehyde is a hydrogen bond donor that belongs to the class of largazole. It has been shown to bind to the receptor site and inhibit the activity of various enzymes, such as citric acid synthase, which is responsible for the conversion of citric acid into oxaloacetate. Largazole has also been shown to inhibit the synthesis of quinine in malaria parasites. 6-Methoxyquinoline-4-carboxaldehyde is used as an analytical reagent and a functional group in organic chemistry. It has also been used in synthesizing drugs such as taxol and quinine.
