Product Information
- 2-(Phenylamino)cyclohexanon
- Cyclohexanone, 2-(Phenylamino)-
2-Anilinocyclohexanone (2-AC) is a benzyl compound that exists as two different conformers and two configurational isomers. The photolysis of 2-AC in diethyl ether yields two ketones, which are the major products. The protonation of one of these ketones produces an intermediate that undergoes fission to produce a mixture of two cyclohexanones. The reaction mechanism for protonation is theorized to involve transfer from the methyl group to the carbonyl group. Theoretical calculations predict that the product distribution will be dependent on the relative energies of conformations and configurations.
