Product Information
2-Phenylindene is a chemical compound that can be used as a fluorescence probe. It has a high quantum yield, which is the measure of how efficiently a substance absorbs light and releases energy as light. 2-Phenylindene interacts with specific receptors in lymphocytes, which are cells that help the body fight infection. 2-Phenylindene is also known to react with anthracene in an amide coupling reaction followed by a Suzuki coupling reaction. The product of this reaction has been shown to have fluorescence lifetimes of 0.6 nanoseconds, which is shorter than the fluorescence lifetime of anthracene (1 nanosecond). The activation mechanism for this reaction has been proposed to be crotonic acid.
