1,4-Bis(vinyldimethylsilyl)benzene is a cross-coupling agent that can be used in the synthesis of hydrosilanes. It is capable of forming a regioselective synthesis by reacting with a variety of functional groups including alcohols, ethers, and amines. 1,4-Bis(vinyldimethylsilyl)benzene also functions as a crosslinker in polymers and crosslinked polymer networks. It has been shown to have flexural strength and good thermal stability at temperatures up to 300°C. 1,4-Bis(vinyldimethylsilyl)benzene has a number of uses including for the production of polymeric materials with improved mechanical properties.
