Product Information
The objective of this research was to synthesize a new hydrogen-bonded anion, [4-(Phosphonomethyl)phenyl]methylphosphonic acid (PPMPAH), and investigate its properties. The crystal structure is based on a divalent architecture with two PPMPA anions bridged by one water molecule. The ligand has a 2-D molecular layer in which the phosphonate groups are located on the surface of the layers. Crystals of PPMPAH were obtained by crystallization from chloroform solution and characterized by x-ray diffraction. Diffraction data show that PPMPAH has a monoclinic crystal system with space group C2/c and lattice parameters a = 9.1393(3) Å, b = 8.8683(3) Å, c = 10.5897(5) Å, β = 116.904(7)° at 293
