Product Information
6-Hydroxyhexanoic acid amide (6-HHA) is a hydroxylated derivative of hexanoic acid. It is produced by the reaction of hexanoic acid with anhydrous ammonia in chloroform. The reaction time and temperature are important factors in this reaction. 6-HHA can be dehydrated to form hexanoic acid, which can be used as a synthetic intermediate for polymers such as polycaprolactone. 6-HHA is also used as an intramolecular ligand in coordination chemistry. 6-HHA has densities of 0.827 g/mL at 25°C and 0.906 g/mL at 50°C, with a melting point of -101°C and boiling point of 150°C.
