Product Information

Name:
Phenyl-phenylamino-acetonitrile
Synonyms:
  • Phenyl(Phenylamino)Acetonitrile
Description:

Phenyl-phenylamino-acetonitrile (PPAA) is a stable and efficient method for the synthesis of imines. PPAA is used to synthesize amine derivatives from the condensation of aldehydes with ammonia, chloroform, or sodium hydroxide in the presence of an acid catalyst. The reaction is usually performed at room temperature, but can be heated to reflux. PPAA is soluble in organic solvents such as ethers and benzene, and can be obtained commercially. This compound has nucleophilic properties that allow it to react efficiently with sulfamic acid or iminium ions. It also has functional groups that make it reactive with chloride ions and hydrogen bonds to other molecules.
