Product Information
m-Hydroxyphenylpyruvic Acid is a metabolite of L-DOPA that is excreted in the urine. It is an analog of 3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine (L-DOPA) and has been used as a diagnostic marker for metabolic disorders. The analysis of m-hydroxyphenylpyruvic acid in urine samples can be used to diagnose patients with Parkinson's disease and other disorders that affect dopamine metabolism. In this study, there were no significant differences in the levels of m-hydroxyphenylpyruvic acid found between different bacterial strains. This supports the idea that the hydroxylation of L-DOPA by aromatic amino acid decarboxylase may not play a major role in the biological function of these bacteria.
