(R)-4-Methoxydalbergione is a potent inhibitor of glycerol kinase, an enzyme that plays a critical role in energy metabolism. This compound is an analog of indirubin, a natural product found in Chinese herbal medicine. (R)-4-Methoxydalbergione has been shown to induce apoptosis in cancer cells and inhibit the growth of tumors in animal models.
