Product Information
4-Hydroxybenzenepentanoic acid is a phenolic compound that is found in plants as an acid conjugate. It can be found in the diet as 3-hydroxybenzoic acid, which is a metabolite of 4-hydroxybenzenepentanoic acid. This compound has been shown to have anti-bacterial activity against filamentous fungus and may be used in dietary supplements and pharmaceuticals. The quinone form of 4-hydroxybenzenepentanoic acid has also been shown to possess anti-inflammatory properties, which are related to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis. This compound is also a carbon source for certain microorganisms, such as lysine residues, alkanoic acids and bioactive phenolic compounds.
