Description:

2,2-Dichloro-1-(4-methylphenyl)ethan-1-one is a hydroxylamine that can be synthesized by the reaction of glyoxal and sulfate. The 2,2-dichloro-1-(4-methylphenyl)ethan-1-one has been crystallized as a redissolving salt with hydrochloric acid and sodium chloride. When heated with benzene, glyoxal and sulfate produce a high yield of 2,2-dichloro-1-(4-methylphenyl)ethan-1-one. In addition to being used in the synthesis of other chemicals, 2,2 -dichloro - 1-(4 methylphenyl) ethan - 1 - one can also be used for chlorination reactions or nitration reactions. It is also used as an intermediate in organic synthesis because it has dihedral angles that are suitable for forming molecules.
