5-Bromo-3-indolyl-beta-D-galactopyranoside is a chemiluminescent substrate that reacts with the luciferase enzyme to produce light. The substrate is used for the detection of bioluminescence in living cells and tissues, as well as for staining and the diagnosis of certain bacterial infections. 5-Bromo-3-indolyl-beta-D-galactopyranoside is a chromogenic substrate that is chemically conjugated to an enzyme or antibody to form a fluorescing conjugate. This product has been evaluated for use as a culture media supplement, food testing, and diagnostics for bacteria such as Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Mycobacterium avium complex, Staphylococcus aureus, and Clostridium perfringens.
