Dihydro-2H-thiopyran-3(4H)-one-1,1-dioxide is a cyclic compound that has been the subject of extensive study and research. Dihydro-2H-thiopyran-3(4H)-one-1,1-dioxide is used as a reagent in screening for active methylene compounds. It can be used to synthesize aldehydes and azides. This molecule has also been studied extensively by x-ray crystallography and other techniques.
