2-(4-Aminophenyl)butanoic acid is a biochemical that has been used as a substrate in the synthesis of amines. It can be found in filtrates and antibodies, and is an antigen that is highly specific for albumin. This compound has been used extensively to identify serum albumin from bovine serum. 2-(4-Aminophenyl)butanoic acid has also been shown to have some activity against animals. The hydrochloride salt of this compound has been synthesized by reacting with hydrochloric acid.
