Product Information
Hexadecyl decanoate is a fatty acid ester that can be used as an emollient and moisturizer in skin care products. Hexadecyl decanoate is also used in clinical treatments to enhance the appearance of dry, chapped or scaly skin. This compound has been shown to have a hydroxyl group on one end of the molecule which helps with its absorption into the skin. It also has a long-chain fatty acid at one end of the molecule and a hydrophobic ethyl group at the other end, which allows it to act as a cationic surfactant. Hexadecyl decanoate is also reversible, meaning that it can be broken down by hydrolysis or oxidation.
