3-Methyl-6-phenyl-7H-[1,2,4]triazolo[3,4-b][1,3,4]thiadiazine (MTT) is an antibacterial agent that can be used to treat bacterial infections. It inhibits the synthesis of DNA and RNA in cancer cells by binding to the enzyme hypophosphorous acid reductase. This drug has been shown to inhibit the replication of influenza virus and cancer cells. MTT also has anticancer activity and can be used as a precursor for other drugs. MTT binds to leukemia cells through hydrophobic interactions with the leucine zipper domain of p53 protein and inhibits its transcriptional activity. Hydrochloric acid is often added to this drug as an impurity during production.
