Product Information
Methyl 4,5-dibromo-2-furancarboxylate is a chemical that has high cytotoxicity against cancer cells. It is synthesized by the reaction of methyl bromide with furan. Methyl 4,5-dibromo-2-furancarboxylate can be used to synthesize an important intermediate for the synthesis of pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals. This chemical has been shown to have cytotoxic effects on T cell leukemia cells in vitro, as well as on other types of carcinoma cells. The synthetic methods for this compound have been optimised and are relatively easy to perform. Benzene and furan are two of the reactants for this process, which would be obtained from petroleum or coal tar distillation.
