Description:
Methyl 3-amino-3-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)propanoate is an acylase inhibitor that prevents the hydrolysis of esters by these enzymes. It is used in the production of penicillin and other drugs. In this process, a racemic mixture of methyl 3-amino-3-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)propanoate is catalyzed by acylases to produce an enantiomerically pure product. This molecule has been optimized for use with organic solvents and can be purified to give purities of up to 98%.
