Product Information
Caffeine is a bitter, white crystalline xanthine alkaloid that acts as a stimulant drug. It is found naturally in the leaves and seeds of some plants, where it acts as a natural pesticide that paralyzes and kills certain insects feeding on the plant. Caffeine is also found in the nuts, or seed kernels, of the coffee plant and in tea leaves. The consumption of caffeine has been linked to decreased risk of developing chronic diseases such as cancer and type II diabetes. A number of studies have shown an association between chronic exposure to caffeine and increased risk of esophageal cancer. However, these studies are limited by small sample sizes and confounding factors that may influence cancer rates. Due to the variability in individual responses to caffeine consumption, there is not enough evidence to link chronic exposure to caffeine with carcinogenesis or carcinogenic effects for humans.
