Product Information
- [4-(Benzyloxy)Phenyl](Phenyl)Methanone
4-Benzyloxybenzophenone is a synthetic compound that has been shown to be effective against the protozoan parasite Leishmania. It is an aldehyde and carbonyl, which inhibits mitochondrial respiration and leads to infarction. The molecule also induces metacyclic locomotion and flagellated movement in metacyclic promastigotes of Verticillium albo-atrum. 4-Benzyloxybenzophenone has also been shown to inhibit the growth of vascular smooth muscle cells, leading to cardiovascular diseases. This chemical can cause cellular death by interfering with protein synthesis.
