Description:

Trans-cyclohexane-1,4-dicarboxylic acid diamide is a small molecule that is only slightly soluble in water. It has been shown to be photoprocessable and can undergo intramolecular hydrogen bonding interactions. Trans-cyclohexane-1,4-dicarboxylic acid diamide has also been shown to inhibit the bacterial enzyme dihydropteroate synthase and can be used to treat chronic bronchitis due to its ability to inhibit bacterial growth. This compound also inhibits the growth of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and other bacteria by preventing the synthesis of folate. Trans-cyclohexane-1,4-dicarboxylic acid diamide is orally active and can be used in pregnancy.
