Product Information
2-Hydroxy-3-methyl-5-nitrobenzoic acid is a dibrominated organic compound that has been used to study the reactivity of electrophilic and nucleophilic species. It is an important intermediate in the synthesis of biphenyl derivatives, and can be used as a monomer for the production of polymers. 2-Hydroxy-3-methyl-5-nitrobenzoic acid is stable in the solid state, but decomposes easily when dissolved in water or alcohols. It has been shown to react with protonated arenes as well as with salicylic acid and biphenyl.
