Product Information

Name:
2-(Methylsulfanyl)benzamide
Description:

2-(Methylsulfanyl)benzamide is a benzene-based amide. It has been shown to be a potent catalyst for the hydrogenation of aromatic compounds, such as benzene and its derivatives. 2-(Methylsulfanyl)benzamide is used in the production of polyurethane resins and can also function as a polymerization catalyst. This compound is stable at room temperature and has a melting point of 211 degrees Celsius. It can also form dimers in solution with other molecules that are symmetrical, such as itself or cyclohexane. Dimers form through hydrogen bonding interactions between each molecule's hydroxyl group and carbonyl group. 2-(Methylsulfanyl)benzamide is centrosymmetric and forms lamellar crystals that are two-dimensional, which makes it easier to crystallize than other asymmetric molecules.
