Product Information
2-(Bromomethyl)quinoxaline is a quinoxaline with hydration and luminescence properties that is used as an acid. It has been found in leishmania and has shown anticancer activity against human cells. 2-(Bromomethyl)quinoxaline has been shown to inhibit the activity of thymidylate synthase, which is an enzyme involved in DNA synthesis. The mechanism of this inhibition is not known, but it may be due to the formation of a reactive intermediate with the terminal nitrogen atoms on the benzene ring. The photophysical reactions of 2-(bromomethyl)quinoxaline are also not clear, but it appears to be a non-radiative process. This compound reacts with enzymes to form compounds that have anticancer properties.
