Product Information
Acetyl-d-alloisoleucine is a molecule that belongs to the class of organic acids. It is synthesized from L-isoleucine and acetyl chloride in a 1:1 ratio. Acetyl-d-alloisoleucine has been detected in soil bacteria, where it may be used for the synthesis of acetate, which can be transformed into butyrate or propionate. Acetyl-d-alloisoleucine is a structural analog of dl-isoleucine, which also has an acetyl group at its β position. Acetylation of this molecule occurs at the α position. The carboxylic acid group on dl-isoleucine reacts with the acetyl chloride to form an ester linkage. The resulting product contains two chiral centers, one due to the asymmetric carbonyl carbon atom and another due to the asymmetric α carbon atom. This causes the molecule
