Product Information
3(S)-Oxidosqualene is a chiral compound that has been shown to inhibit cyclase activity. The enzyme inhibition mechanism involves the hydroxyl group, which binds to the active site of the enzyme and blocks its ability to bind with substrates. 3(S)-Oxidosqualene also inhibits liver cells and has been shown to have in vitro antifungal activity against Candida albicans. This drug is metabolized through oxidation by cytochrome P450 enzymes before being excreted in bile and urine.
3(S)-Oxidosqualene binds selectively to rat liver microsomes, which may be due to its hydrophobic properties.
