Description:

N-Desethylamodiaquine dihydrochloride is an antimalarial drug that has been shown to be effective against multiresistant strains of malaria. It is a prodrug that is converted to its active form, the antiplasmodial amodiaquine, by esterases in the liver. N-Desethylamodiaquine dihydrochloride has been shown to inhibit the growth of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Mycobacterium avium complex, but not Mycobacterium leprae. It also has immunomodulatory properties and can be used for the treatment of inflammatory disorders.
