Product Information
Ethyl 4-phenylthiazole-2-carboxylate (ETPC) is a cholesteryl ester transfer inhibitor. ETPC inhibits the production of cholesterol in the liver by inhibiting the enzyme 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A reductase (HMG CoA reductase). This prevents the formation of mevalonic acid, which is an intermediate in the synthesis of cholesterol. ETPC also inhibits electron transfer from NADPH to cytochrome P450 and thus inhibits synthesis of bile acids. It has been shown to have a high metabolic stability and inhibitory activity against cardiovascular disease.
