Product Information
N-(3,5-dimethoxyphenyl)acetamide is a synthetic prenylated compound that has been shown to be cytotoxic against murine leukemia cells in vitro. It interacts with the DNA of mammalian cells and blocks translation by binding to the ribosomes. N-(3,5-dimethoxyphenyl)acetamide binds to the sulfhydryl group of the 30S ribosomal subunit, preventing formation of an initiation complex with mRNA and thus inhibiting protein synthesis. This drug also inhibits DNA synthesis by covalently adducting nucleic acids. N-(3,5-dimethoxyphenyl)acetamide is a member of a family of compounds that are synthesized from dimethylformamide and various substituted phenols. The prenylation process may occur through a number of different pathways.
