Product Information
1-Pyridin-2-yl-ethanone oxime is a hydrogen bond acceptor and a dioxime. It is soluble in water, ethanol, and ether. 1-Pyridin-2-yl-ethanone oxime has shown to be cytotoxic to cells at concentrations of 100 µM or higher. It binds to the active site of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and inhibits its activity. 1-Pyridin-2-yl-ethanone oxime has been shown to inhibit the production of ACh by stimulating the release of acetylcholine from nerve endings. This drug also has an inhibitory effect on enzymes that catalyze reactions involving the transfer of oxygen from one molecule to another, such as xanthine oxidoreductase and myeloperoxidase. The redox potential is +1.95 V for the pyridine N-H/N-O
