Description:
Eicosatetraenoic acid is a metabolite of arachidonic acid and occurs in the form of a mixture of isomers, including 5(Z),8(Z),11(Z),14(Z)-eicosatetraenoic acid. It is produced by the action of cytochrome P450 monooxygenases on arachidonic acid, which are activated by various stimuli. Eicosatetraenoic acid has been shown to be an endogenous eicosanoid that can regulate intracellular calcium levels and vascular tone. This metabolite also has been found to have 13,14-dihydro-15-keto prostaglandin D2 activity.
