Product Information

Name:
4-Methyl-3-nitroquinoline
Description:

4-Methyl-3-nitroquinoline is an ester that can be used as a monomer in the production of polymers. It is also used as a reactant to synthesize nitroaromatics, quinolines and their derivatives. 4-Methyl-3-nitroquinoline has been shown to undergo a one-step, radical substitution reaction with amines in the presence of silver oxide or copper oxide catalysts. The yield of this reaction is high, but it is not suitable for use with ketones because it will produce undesired byproducts. 4-Methyl-3-nitroquinoline is soluble in organic solvents such as benzene and ether, but insoluble in water. The molecule has two conformational structures: one that is planar and one that is twisted.
