Product Information
- 1-Naphthalenecarboxylic acid, 2-amino-
- 2-Amino-1-naphthalenecarboxylic acid
- 2-Aminonaphthalene-1-carboxylic acid
2-Amino-1-naphthoic acid is a metabolite of the amino acids methionine and histidine. It is excreted by the kidneys and can be used as a marker for chronic kidney disease. 2-Amino-1-naphthoic acid has been shown to inhibit angiogenesis in vitro. It also inhibits the activity of methionine aminopeptidase, an enzyme that degrades the amino acid methionine, which may contribute to its antiangiogenic activity. 2-Amino-1-naphthoic acid has been shown to have luminescence properties and can be used as a fluorescent probe for nitro groups in human urine. The hydrogen bond between this molecule and anthranilic acid has also been studied extensively using crystallography and luminescence techniques.
