Description:
Magnesium 2-ethylbutyrate is an ethyl ester of magnesium 2-ethylhexanoate. It is a colorless liquid with a low melting point and no particular odor, soluble in water. Magnesium 2-ethylbutyrate is used as a plasticizer and an additive for polyvinyl chloride (PVC). It is also used to produce polymers such as polyvinyl butyral (PVB) and poly(2-ethylhexanoate) (PEH).
