(S)-4-Benzyl-3-(3-methylbutanoyl)oxazolidin-2-one is an enantiomerically pure chiral compound. It is a Friedel-Crafts alkylation of 2,6-dichloroquinoline with 3-methylbutanal. This intermediate was used to synthesize the antihypertensive drug aliskiren. (S)-4-Benzyl-3-(3-methylbutanoyl)oxazolidin-2-one is a chiral reductively activated intermediate that can be used in the preparation of other chiral compounds.
