(S)-3-Aminotetrahydrofuran tosylate is a chiral and enantiopure chemical compound. It inhibits the activity of the enzyme tetrahydrofuranyl coenzyme A (THFCC) reductase, which catalyzes the conversion of tetrahydrofuran to tetrahydrofolate. This inhibition causes an accumulation of THFCC in cells, leading to cell death. The stereochemistry of this drug is also important for its binding affinity with the active site; therefore, it must be synthesized as an enantiopure form. The molecular interactions between ligands and substituents are important for maximizing activity and minimizing side effects. Hplc methods are used for measuring the concentration of this drug in biological samples.
