Product Information
1,8-Naphthyridine-3-carboxylic acid is a carbon disulphide derivative that inhibits the growth of bacteria and other microorganisms by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit. It has been shown to have low potency against cancer cells in vivo and in vitro. 1,8-Naphthyridine-3-carboxylic acid has also been shown to be active against leukemias and chronic bronchitis, as well as broad spectrum antimicrobial activity. This drug binds to bacterial 16S RNA and inhibits protein synthesis, leading to cell death by inhibiting the production of proteins vital for cell division.
