Description:
2-(2,4-Difluorophenyl)-2-oxoethyl-1H-indole-3-acetic acid (DFP) is a chemical compound with nuclear and mitochondrial DNA activity. It has been shown to induce apoptosis in a number of cell lines including microglia, cardiomyocytes, and cancer cells. DFP also inhibits β-catenin signaling and the production of inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α. Furthermore, it has been shown to inhibit mitochondrial functions by decreasing ATP levels and increasing cellular reactive oxygen species levels. DFP is used in chemical biology research to investigate mitochondrial functions and the effects of certain drugs on mitochondria.
