Description:
6-Fluoro-3-indolyl b-D-galactopyranoside (6-FI-gal) is a chromogenic enzyme substrate often used in microbiology to detect the expression of beta-galactosidase in bacterial colonies. When hydrolyzed by beta-galactosidase, 6-FI-gal produces a blue-green precipitate, allowing for easy identification of colonies that express the enzyme.
