Product Information

Name:
1,2-Bis[(2R,5R)-2,5-dimethylphospholano]ethane
Synonyms:
  • (R,R)-Me-BPE
  • (2R,5R,2'R,5'R)-1,1'-ethane-1,2-diylbis(2,5-dimethylphospholane)
Description:

Bis(2R,5R)-2,5-dimethylphospholane is an enantiomer of phospholane. It can be synthesized from the reaction of styrene with diazoacetate and ligand. This compound has been shown to be a ligand for copper, zinc, nickel and palladium. It has also been used as a chiral selector in asymmetric synthesis. Bis(2R,5R)-2,5-dimethylphospholane can be used to produce phosphine by the action of chlorine or trans-stilbene. The reaction of bis(2R,5R) -2,5-dimethylphospholane with ethyl diazoacetate produces a kinetic product that can be converted into chloropentaphene by heating.
