6-Methylquinolin-7-amine is a fluorescent compound with acidic properties. It has been shown to react with thiobarbituric acid, yield fluorescence, and produce peroxide and acetonitrile. 6-Methylquinolin-7-amine reacts with the aldehydes malondialdehyde and methyl linoleate during the oxidation process, producing acid methyl esters. This reaction can be used in the identification of these compounds in vegetable oils or animal fats.
