4-bromo-8-nitroquinoline is a potent antiproliferative agent that inhibits the kinase activity of mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) and phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase. This agent also has dose-dependent inhibition of cell growth in melanoma cell lines. 4-bromo-8-nitroquinoline has been shown to inhibit cancer cell proliferation in vitro, as well as induce apoptosis in melanoma cells. It is orally bioavailable and displays high potency against melanoma cells at nanomolar concentrations.
