Product Information
- 2-Iodo-3-methoxy-6-methylpyridine
Pyridine, 2-iodo-3-methoxy-6-methyl (PMI) is a non-polar organic compound that is soluble in organic solvents. PMI crystallizes as a white solid. Pyridine is the parent compound of PMI and has the molecular formula C5H5N. Pyridine is an aromatic heterocycle with two nitrogen atoms and six carbon atoms. The elemental analysis of PMI shows that it contains two methyl groups, which are attached to the pyridyl group, a six-membered ring composed of four carbon atoms and two nitrogen atoms. The dihedral angle between the methyl groups and the pyridyl group is -140°, giving PMI its yellow color.
Methyl groups are also present on the 6-position of the pyridine molecule, which contribute to its yellow color.
